JANUARY 2023 | TWO NEW DISHES ARRIVE AT BACCHANALIA, ONE MOUNT STREET
January 2023
For the love of extravagance! If you have not yet paid a visit to Bacchanalia, located at One Mount Street, you might like to add it to your restaurant to-do list immediately. If you have been before, two new dishes might just lure you back. Richard Caring’s latest hospitality hot spot offers a truly unique dining experience with many a reference to Greek mythology along the way. A perfect cure for the January blues, no?
Mr Caring has once again hired my all time favourite interior architect, Martin Brudnizki, to get people talking. The eye-catching bar at Bacchanalia is inspired by classical myths, comprised of marbles, mosaics and furnishings. The ultra dramatic dining room features five Damien Hirst statues, hand-painted ceiling murals and 2,000-year-old Greek and Roman artworks. The ladies restroom tells the story of the Garden of Hesperides, whilst the men’s restrooms depicts Hades’ underworld. The pièce de résistance is Gary Myatt’s floor to ceiling interpretation of ‘Romans In Their Decadence’. True to form, Brudnizki has done it again.
Looking to be transformed to a Greek Island with an Italian touch? Chef Athinagoras Kostakos is responsible for a Greek and Italian inspired menu boasting flamboyant dishes that are playfully finished at tables, offering plenty of theatre for diners. Seasonal dishes include Crab Salad, Sea Bream Carpaccio, Risotto Nero for three and Turbot for two. Desserts include Bacchanalia’s twist on a tiramisu, Greek Karydopita and vegan Citrus Pavlova. Yes.
New for 2023: Red Shrimp Carpaccio with lemon sauce and crispy shrimp; and Lobster Paccheri Pasta in a creamy bisque sauce to be enjoyed by the whole table.
Wine lovers, you are in for a treat. Bacchanalia’s wine list, curated by Caprice Holdings’ Group Wine Director, Terry Kandylis, features over 650 wines from Greece, Italy, France and beyond; and Bacchanalia own-label wines. Beautifully presented Italian and Greek-inspired cocktails, including Lost in Athens, Baklava and Karpouzi, are certainly worth exploring.
Bacchanalia is comprised of the main restaurant, mezzanine seating and an impressive private dining room named Artemis, featuring large windows overlooking the restaurant below. DJs and live performances are keeping guests on their toes, and al-fresco seating with views across Berkeley Square is one reason to be excited for summer. Apollo’s Muse is a members-only area that will offer a bespoke menu, exquisite experiences, and a weekly programme of members-only events.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
