BENTLEY & SKINNER COLLABORATE WITH PAUL SMITH ON SS18 COLLECTION
Bentley & Skinner, specialists in fine antique jewellery, silver and Fabergé, was approached
by the world renowned fashion designer Paul Smith who wished to create a small collection
of designs featuring a photographic print of Bentley & Skinner fine jewellery. Five exclusive
pieces feature a jewelled print inspired by the historic delicacies of Bentley & Skinner’s
cabinets.
Paul Smith was inspired by the brands latest jewelled catalogue: “I have been receiving a
very beautiful catalogue from Bentley & Skinner for quite some time and every-time it drops
through the letterbox I always think that it’s so perfectly created and laid-out. I just kept
thinking, “wow, these photos would make the perfect dress”
The SS18 collection is made up of a silk shirt, skirt, scarf and dress, as well as a leather jacket with silk lining, all featuring prints of 31 of Bentley & Skinner’s diamond antique jewels. Smith’s selection of the pieces was down to his “love of the mix of colours, shapes and textures”, which includes a Georgian diamond Maltese cross brooch formerly the property of Richard Bourchier, Governor of Bombay 1750-1760.
Mark Evans, MD at Bentley & Skinner, added: Bentley & Skinner’s identity is completely different to that of Paul Smith’s, the renowned fashion brand, so when Paul came to me last year and asked if he could use photographs from our brochure as the official print for the SS18 collection, I was of course delighted. It’s the perfect combination of new and old, where fashion house meets antique house, and a true celebration of British brands.”
Bentley & Skinner is known for their Royal appointments to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, together with their magnificent collection of treasures including Faberge that is available in their Piccadilly shop.
