CELEBRATE HENDRIX'S 80TH BIRTHDAY WITH AN EVENING OF ELECTRIFYING MUSIC
November 2022
In celebration of Jimi Hendrix’s 80th birthday (27th November), Mayfair’s Handel & Hendrix are hosting an evening of electrifying live music on Wednesday 30th November, from 7-10pm. This exciting musical event will take place at St Pancras Old Church on Pancras Road, London NW1 1UL.
Hendrix biographer, Christian Lloyd, will be speaking about the idea of the “Electric Church”, exploring the that Jimi’s philosophy can be applied to modern-day performance. He will also be signing copies of his book, ‘Hendrix at Home: A Bluesman in Mayfair’, for sale at the event or via the museum’s online shop. Blues singer and guitarist, Tom Attah, will be generating a ‘meditative and shifting soundscape’ inspired by Hendrix. Headliner Loria Boban will also perform a new wave funky-soul set.
If you have not yet visited the fascinating Handel & Hendrix, please make sure you take a trip when the museum reopens in spring 2023. The museum, located at 25 Brook Street in Mayfair, celebrates the lives of two of the most influential and iconic musicians that the world has ever known. Handel & Hendrix offers access to rooms where Handel and Hendrix once resided. George Fridric Handel lived at 25 Brook Street for 36 long years (1725- 1759) and composed many important works here, including The Messiah. 23 Brook Street was home to rock legend Jimi Hendrix for a year (1968-9).
