MAYFAIR REVIEW: LUXURY SERVICED RESIDENCES BY THE ATHENAEUM
This week we had the great pleasure of staying in one of The Athenaeum's beautiful luxury residences, located within an iconic red brick Victorian Mayfair building on Down Street. The residences are adjacent to the The Athenaeum Hotel, located within striking distance of London’s top landmarks, making them the perfect spot for a luxury staycation in W1.
This trip came at a perfect time, as Mr Musings (a pilot) was in desperate need of a break from the exhausting pressures of life in the sky. I myself have been snowed under with tasks lately, so it was nice to get away from my home office for a change of scenery. Travelling up from the South Coast, we were excited to experience the city as Londoners, right in the heart of Mayfair and just moments from Green Park.
James and I let out a joint gasp of delight when we entered the sunny apartment - the interior design is just delightful. The space is stylish and decadent, yet relaxed - studded with design objects, art work and furniture that work together to create a quintessentially 'Mayfair' feel. Not only is the property perfectly located, it is also noticeably quiet and peaceful - one thing you do not expect so close to Piccadilly.
The townhouse home from home offers modern amenities and luxuries, including a Nespresso machine and a range of drinks and snacks. We collapsed on designer chairs with a bottle of red and some light bites as a gentle breeze trickled through the open floor-to-ceiling windows. The picturesque living room space is perfect for entertaining and relaxing - we were soon feeling quite at home listening to Queen on the TV entertainment system whilst flicking through luxury coffee table books.
The residences boast open plan spacious living areas with a kitchenette, lounge area, a dining table for four and the option for 24-hour in-room-dining via the hotel. Separate bedrooms come with either a large king bed or twin beds (ours was a king). If you're travelling with family, a sofa-bed or bunk bed can be arranged, providing more sleeping space in the lounge. Adjoining apartments are also available on request.
The marble bathroom accessed via the bedroom includes a spacious walk-in shower with a rainforest shower head, heated towel rail and handy non-steam mirrors. There is a mirrored dressing table in the bedroom with an additional light up magnified mirror in residence no 23, excellent for those who wish to get ready Marilyn Monroe / James Dean style before dinner.
We can thoroughly recommend the luxury serviced residences at The Athenaeum. Whether you're travelling into London for business or pleasure, you'll have an incredibly comfortable and memorable stay here. Head to the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or drinks. Also check out the REN spa, a boutique haven of tranquility offering a range of relaxing treatments designed to restore and rejuvenate you. There is a secret passage that takes you from the apartment building to the hotel.
