EXPERIENCE TIMELESS INDIAN CUISINE WITH A MODERN TWIST: MATSYA, MAYFAIR
MATSYA on Curzon Street is fairly new to Mayfair, moments from the hustle and bustle of Berkeley Square and Shepherd Market. From the moment you walk into MATYSA, you'll notice a poignant sense of calm, beautiful decor and a mesmerising waterfall behind the bar. The colourful menu will lead you on an unforgettable culinary journey, where you will be encouraged to try new dishes alongside traditional favourites.
The word 'Matsya' is derived from Hindu mythology whereby Matsya, the fish, represents the beginning of life and a fresh start. In correlation to this ethos, the Mayfair restaurant aims to provide diners with experiential cuisine, merging traditional favourites with fresh new ideas. The staff know what they are talking about here in addition to being very accommodating. Dietary requirements are carefully remembered and catered for.
We were lucky enough to host The London Musings Women in Business networking dinner at MATSYA this month, an evening I will look back on with fond memories for a long time to come. Our table for 10 was in the private dining room in the basement, which features a wonderful private wine cellar, WC and a specialist whisky showcase. A brilliant bespoke menu was carefully curated for my guests, taking the gluten-free/veggie/shellfish-allergic individuals into account.
Our collaborative networking event brought together women from different corners of the luxury industry, from private aviation to property development, interiors, contemporary art and fine jewellery. We wanted to choose a restaurant that was family run and renowned for great cuisine. My business partner introduced me to the owners of MATSYA and after trying a tasting menu in such attractive and well located surroundings, I knew this place was 'the one'.
We can thoroughly recommend MATSYA for all day dining, evening soirees, corporate dinners, romantic dates and family celebrations. The ground floor and first floor of the restaurant are suitable for tables of all different sizes (we saw a table of 14+ guests upstairs). The private dining room is best for intimate, quiet dinners. You'll forget you're in a restaurant and start feeling right at home, with zero background noise and utterly seamless service from start to finish.
