MAY FLOWERS WITH CELEBRITY FLORIST NIKKI TIBBLES OF WILD AT HEART
May 2023
It’s May, the sun is shining and it’s officially peony season! The perfect blousy bloom is back, with their beautifully delicate scent and ruffled petals. It’s no wonder they are one of the most loved flowers.
Peonies come in such wonderful colours. The delicate beauty of Sarah Bernhardt is truly breathtaking. With its ruffled, flamingo-pink, double blooms that open from large and rounded buds, this herbaceous peony is a timeless classic that will add elegance to any space. Originally discovered by the French breeder Lemoine in 1906, and named after a famous French actress, Sarah Bernhardt is a must-have for any peony lover.
Red Charm Peonies are a true showstopper, boasting large, fragrant blooms that exude drama and elegance. Their lustrous ruby-red hue is both deep and vibrant, making them a truly luxurious addition to any house.
Coral Charm is a stunning choice with a unique colour transformation as they bloom, making them a favourite among peony enthusiasts. Starting as a bright coral hue, these peonies transition to a soft peachy-pink shade as they mature. You can see the full Wild at Heart peony collection HERE.
I can’t write my column this month without mentioning the King’s Coronation. If you are hosting a party and want a table fit for a king we have a new Wild at Heart flower and tablescape collection, crafted to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Embodying the regal charm of this historic event, the Wild at Heart stunning floral arrangements are available for nationwide delivery.
When designing a table for a special occasion, I always follow 10 simple steps.
1.) Always measure to make sure the vases are in the centre of the table.
2.) Make sure your candles are straight. Cut the wicks before you light them.
3.) Make sure your flowers have had a really good drink before putting them into vases.
4.) Make sure the flower is the right proportion to the vase. Big flower- big vase! Small flower-small vase.
5.) Linens add real charm to the table. This weekend I will be using the Abigail blue placemat and napkins from Maison Margaux.
6.) Pick a colour scheme. For the King’s Coronation I have chosen blue.
7.) Grey adds elegance and is perfect for evening entertaining.
8.) Earthy tones like wild green and brass always work well together.
9.) Think about scent. I always like to choose scented flowers like sweet peas and roses to add a little something extra. This weekend I will be using lots of lilac and white sweetpeas.
10.) Candles play such an important part in table design. I like to fill my dining table with rose gold candlesticks and tealights to create an atmosphere. Plus everyone looks good by candlelight!
