PHILLIPS' LONDON MAY PHOTOGRAPHS SALE ACHIEVES £1.8 MILLION: NEW RECORDS SET
Phillips’ May photographs sale achieved a whopping £1.8 Million, with new auction records set for Richard Mosse, Don McCullin, and Kourtney Roy. Sale Total: £1,849,188 / $2,369,810 / €2,114,731.
Genevieve Janvrin & Yuka Yamaji, Co-Heads of Photographs, Europe, said, “An active room and a global audience participating online and by telephone responded positively to our sale, resulting in strong prices for established artists and auction newcomers alike. Leading the sale, Man Ray’s legacy continues to resonate with collectors worldwide, with La Prière, printed on linen, far exceeding its pre-sale estimate, selling for £100,000. This edition of ULTIMATE saw great prices for works by Helena Almeida, Anne Collier, and Ishiuchi Miyako. Strong results were also achieved for all artists included in ULTIMATE EDITORIAL, confirming the continued global enthusiasm for fashion photographs of the highest calibre. Further world auction records were set for Richard Mosse, Don McCullin, and Kourtney Roy.”
