BAM KARAOKE BOX, VICTORIA: THE CHAMPAGNE-FUELLED NEW KARAOKE VENUE
March 2025
BAM sits imposing in the middle of SW1 with neon lights and a whopping 22 rooms. The outside has a wide decking area for cocktails when the summer sun decides to arrive.
The many rooms inside, I am informed, are frequently used for private diners, business events and those celebrating another milestone. But BAM isn’t just your usual eatery slash city cocktail bar. There’s another addition added to the mix - karaoke, which after a few glasses of fizz helps even the shyest get up and grab the mic.
There are, of course, some who believe karaoke is an art form, and those who see it as a place where the tone-deaf get to release their inner Celine Dion. Either way, BAM Karaoke doesn’t mind as they have a new menu and cocktail list to boot.
The venue itself, at first glance, looks impressively polished. The main bar is decked out with burgundy walls and vintage style frames adorning the walls. There is a spacious drinking area, with the main room looking very old-school opulent. The bar has a small seating area as well as standing and without a sticky floor in sight!
The restaurant sits directly beside the bar with wide tables and is well lit, not too bright with small lamps dotted around the tables giving it a cosy, homely feel. The new menu has old school Americana classics and is somewhere you might want to visit when you fancy indulging- as the food is unapologetically rich and designed to satisfy as a guilty pleasure. Think truffle mac and cheese, a wagyu cheeseburger, chilli deep fried chicken, and the ever so naughty tater tots. Go hungry, for the dishes are large, and will easily fill you up - hearty enough to share between diners.
The drinks list is confident and has so many French and Italian wines to choose from. Champagne? Of course. A Tokyo Mule? Why not. A round of shots? Essential. Because let’s face it, if you do want to sing later, it will definitely help move things along! Their new cocktails also have a few twists including Old Tom Gin and espresso martinis (I was told I would be flying home if I had one so I stuck with the Champagne).
If you’re going for food, drink and a side of singing, you’ll probably need two to three hours in the venue, although you can also just do a flying visit for an after-work aperitivo. If you want to go straight into singing, you can book a room and order items directly from your booth, and pre-booking is advised.
They also have the addition of bottomless brunch for those that want to release a belter while sipping on copious amounts of fizz.
With the cocktail bar and outside seating area we also think it would work well as a venue for a date night, where you don’t need to book, and can simply turn up. Just don’t let your date catch you singing Ed Sheeran unless they’ve had a couple vodka martinis.
