COMING SOON: AUTHOR IN CONVERSATION SERIES AT HOLMES HOTEL
April 2023
Holmes Hotel London is excited to announce the launch of its Author in Conversation series - an intimate programme that celebrates some of the capital’s most exciting voices.
Through a series of keynote talks and discussions, the programme invites guests to join conversations on topics including love, heartbreak, identity, and friendship with acclaimed writers, and will kick off in April to mark World Book Night with sessions from Vogue columnist Annie Lord (@annielord8) and Ella McLeod (@mcleodmouth). Leading discussions about the themes in their lauded debuts – Notes on Heartbreak and Rapunzella, Or, Don’t Touch My Hair respectively – the authors will then open the floor to a Q&A discussion with guests.
Hosted in the hotel’s charming Drawing Room, tickets are available from just £25 and include a welcome cocktail on arrival. Crafted by one of the hotel’s talented mixologists, Alex Pietruszewska, the delicious tipple – Poison Apple – is a twist on a dirty martini, taking inspiration from the spring season. The drink is crafted using vermouth, vodka, elderflower liqueur, apple juice, and rose liqueur, and is served with a garnish of reduced apple and a smoked apple powder rim. The flavours blend harmoniously with the fruity notes of the vodka, resulting in a delightful concoction.
Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a three-course tasting menu at the hotel’s restaurant, Kitchen at Holmes, curated exclusively for the series by head chef Stefano Motta, with tickets priced £65.
The Authors in Conversation:
Annie Lord – Thursday, 20th April at 6pm
In Notes on Heartbreak, acclaimed journalist and Vogue columnist Annie Lord takes readers on a stunning exploration of love and heartbreak. Her unflinchingly honest yet lyrical take on the simultaneous joy and pain of being love resonates with anyone that has ever nursed a broken heart.
Ella McLeod – Saturday, 23rd April at 6pm
Ella McLeod’s genre-bending debut is a timely and thought-provoking celebration of the power of Black identity and Black hair. Beautiful poetry and prose bring a special storytelling power, speaking to big themes and emotions that cover the complexities of growing up.
Nicola James, General Manager of Holmes Hotel London, said:
“We are delighted to kick start our Authors in Conversation programme with sessions from Annie and Ella, who are both incredible talents with unique voices and points of view.
