Isabel, part of the London portfolio of Santa Cruz Co., has launched its new winter breakfast and lunch menus featuring the newly-conceived ‘Lunch Hour’ menu! Isabel is a hot topic in Mayfair and I am yet to meet a true Mayfairian who has a bad word to say about this beautiful hot spot.

The Isabel breakfast menu features the restaurant’s signature freshly-baked arepas, a savoury pancake-style dish made from a special cornflour, popular in South America from where the Isabel menus take most of their inspiration. Guests can have classic breakfast egg dishes on arepas including eggs benedict, eggs florentine and the restaurant’s signature dish; poached eggs, avocado, almonds and cayenne on arepa. A newly-created collection of breakfast cocktails and smoothies are also available.

The Isabel breakfast counter comprises a selection of baked breads and fresh pastries that are made on site each morning, along with an array of grains, berries, fresh fruit and cold-pressed juices. A nutritious and balanced offer that is synonymous with the Santa Cruz Co. approach to dining.

Juan Santa Cruz, founder of Santa Cruz Co., says ‘I’m loving how much people in London are liking our arepas, which originate from Venezuela and Colombia. They are extremely versatile and can be had for breakfast with eggs, as a South American-style pizzetta, or as a pre-dinner canapé at the bar with a cocktail. They are baked or grilled, therefore minimising the use of fat. They’re gluten, lactose and sugar free and full of antioxidants, a great alternative to bread and wheat in general.’

Isabel is also introducing its delicious ‘Lunch Hour’ menu, to include:

  • A selection of sharing dishes, designed for busy guests on the go looking for a light, nutritious meal to be enjoyed within the hour.
  • Dishes catering for all dietary requirements with lactose, sugar and gluten free options, ranging from fresh salads with grains and fresh fish including raw and cured tuna and organic salmon.
  • Indulgent cooked dishes including roast sea bass and braised beef short rib.
  • A beautiful range of coffees and petit fours.

Isabel, named after Juan Santa Cruz’s grandmother, opened in May 2017 as an all-day dining destination for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks on Mayfair’s Albemarle Street pioneering culinary excellence with lean and light dishes that avoid commonly used unhealthy cooking styles such as added butter, unsaturated oils and frying.

Each dish is designed and presented with as much care and attention as the striking décor of the restaurant itself which is elegantly finished in a decadent palette of pale golds, navy and reds. From the mirrored ebony bar and polished brass lamps to the plates and menus, everything has been beautifully designed by Juan Santa Cruz, including the restaurant’s signature scent. The individual restrooms each feature De Gournay hand-painted silk wallpaper, and the uniforms of the hostesses are by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz.
