THE ORIGINAL SWEET SHOP AFTERNOON TEA ARRIVES AT THE CHESTERFIELD
London’s Chesterfield Mayfair hotel has launched a brand new afternoon tea experience which will look a lot like heaven for those with a sweet tooth! Inspired by the old fashioned sweetshop and filled with chocolates, pick and mix and jars of multi-coloured treats, The Original Sweet Shop Afternoon Tea will feature pastries and cakes with the flavours of retro sweetshop favourites.
Long-famed for its afternoon tea offering, The Chesterfield Mayfair has been highly commended at the Afternoon Tea Awards for the last three years, receiving recognition for outstanding quality alongside creativity; producing playful, fun and unique afternoon tea experiences for guests of all ages.
A selection of freshly made finger sandwiches will be served alongside homemade chocolate chip and fruit scones with Cornish clotted cream and preserves. The menu also includes an array of homemade pastries and cupcakes inspired by the nation’s favourite sweet shop staples, such as Coca-Cola slices, chocolate fudge éclairs, peanut butter cups, cherry bonbon cupcakes, rhubarb and custard macarons, liquorice allsorts lemon cheesecakes, and fizzy apple mousse filled pastries inspired by apple drops – a traditional afternoon tea with a twist!
As guests arrive at The Chesterfield’s bright Conservatory in the heart of Mayfair, they will receive a playful welcome drink; a glass of homemade pink lemonade, floating within a cloud of dry ice with flying saucers hovering above!
Adding to the nostalgia, The Chesterfield’s own red and white-striped candy man will be on hand to serve up even more treats with a cart full of sweets for guests to take away. The candy man will also gift guests with a token to use in a vending machine on their next visit, giving them the chance to win a fantastic prize when they return.
Younger guests can enjoy all the delights of the afternoon tea served alongside a milkshake or tea, priced at £21.50. Adults can opt to add a glass of something sparkling with the Champagne Tea (£47 per person), including a glass of brut, rosé or white label Lanson Champagne. For £40 per person The Original Sweet Shop Afternoon Tea is served with loose leaf or flowering tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
