ABOUT LAST NIGHT: A STAR-STUDDED ANNABEL'S FOR THE AMAZON 2024 GALA DINNER

September 2024

Last night, Annabel’s welcomed guests including Arizona Muse, Nathalie Kelley, Ed Speleers, Vik Muniz, Johan Ernst, Richard and Patricia Caring to the club’s annual fundraising event, Annabel’s For The Amazon Gala. Each year, the event aims to raise funds to aid reforestation projects in the Amazon rainforest and wider social work with women and children, via its charity The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF).

The evening, hosted by Rory Bremner, included a silent auction led by Simon de Pury, with generous supporters bidding for numerous artworks including Damian Hirst's Garden of Activity, 2023 and David Hockney’s The Arrival of Spring in February 2011 and one-of-a-kind experiences. The Caring Family Foundation raised over 2 million pounds in September alone.

During the evening, guests savoured cocktails including the ‘Amazonia,’ ‘Tapajós,’ and ‘Tocantis,’ crafted in collaboration with Altamura Distilleries Vodka. These drinks have been featured at Annabel’s throughout September, with proceeds from the sales directly supporting TCFF’s initiatives.

This year, The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF) are celebrating its fifth anniversary. It is recognised as one of the largest contributors in the UK to Brazilian reforestation efforts, having planted over two million trees in Brazil. Furthermore, TCFF has provided more than two million meals and offered over 20,000 services for domestic abuse victims in both the UK and Brazil.

This year, TCFF's Annabel's for the Amazon campaign aims to enhance its social projects in Acre and expand its overall initiatives. The campaign focuses on supporting women and improving the economic conditions of local and Indigenous communities. It will fund 14 community seedling nurseries across five regions, helping families boost their income over three years. Committed to fostering positive change and respecting the insights of local and Indigenous leaders, TCFF plans to extend its mission to include two more Indigenous communities and their families.

The Foundation's ongoing collaboration with SOS Amazônia aims to create sustainable food and income opportunities, benefiting thousands in the Amazon. By establishing supply chains that promote local products, the project has already improved family income generation.

TCFF has partnered with the Associação Médicos da Floresta in Rondônia and Roraima to provide essential healthcare services, including eye, pediatric, and gynecological care, to remote Indigenous communities in the Amazon. This initiative aims to improve access to vital healthcare for women and children, crucial for the community's well-being. By leveraging TCFF’s resources and the association's medical expertise, the partnership enhances quality of life and promotes social inclusion for those in need.

Annabel's invites both Members and the public to take part in the ongoing Annabel's for the Amazon fundraising campaign. Through this initiative, we can support Indigenous communities and help safeguard one of the world's most essential ecosystems.
